We’re excited to share the completion of a small addition project in Howard County. The original second-floor front facade had no windows in the master and secondary bedrooms, making the house appear like a single-story home from the front. To improve both the exterior and interior, we designed two dormer windows. This not only enhanced the façade but also brought in much more natural light to the interior. We also took the opportunity to reconfigure the bedrooms and add a walk-in closet.

Since the house has a Gambrel roof, the height of the dormers was limited, so we chose a gentle slope with a metal roof. While dormer windows might seem straightforward, getting a permit required structural engineering approval to ensure everything met building codes and safety standards.
